First I would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Tahoma School District. As you know we have many events and always need help with volunteering. One of the main things is that you must be district cleared in order to volunteer in the school. PTA is doing a coin drive from April 3 rd – 5 th . We will have jugs in each stretch class in the morning. We will have volunteers pick up the jugs at the end of stretch to count the coins each day. We will have graphs on the bulletin board in the common area to tell which stretch classes are in the lead. We will be judging this by percentage of money brought in, to make it fair for those stretch classes that have a few students. Seventh and eighth grade students and their families are invited to attend “Apprenticeship 101” at Tahoma High School on May 30 to learn more about careers in the trades. Students will start activities at 3 p.m. at THS in the Performing Arts Center. Middle school students can ride the bus to THS if needed. Parents are encouraged to join students at 5 p.m. for a free dinner in the Commons. After dinner, students will participate in hands-on activities while parents attend an information session to learn about the benefits of joining an apprenticeship program. We're excited to announce that we have gotten approval to sell other Smart Snack approved treats during the school day! We found a treat that we hope will be a big hit! We'll have more details once we are ready to roll it into full use (we are going to do some trial runs to work out the kinks before we roll it out), but these FrostyFruit slushy drinks will be available during lunch on Tuesdays. As you know in the past we had ice cream that included Drumsticks, Klondike, Twix and much more. At the time we had an exception for us to sell those ice cream brands. With this new school year there will not have an exception and we must sell the approved smart snack ice cream. MVMS Families - I was asked to verify information and here it is. 7th & 8th grade can come on September 5th from 8-11:30 to pay fees, pictures and schedules. 6th grade can pay fees, and pictures from 12-2. 6th grade from 8-12 will participate in a four-hour WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) program. 6th grade parents are welcome to attend a Parent Meeting at 8:00AM in the Multi Purpose Room. PTA is working with our counselor to help get donations of school supplies for them to hand out. If you can donate an item or two would be helpful for our students at Maple View Middle School.
